Vickie F. Li
Partner
Download vCard Vickie has practiced immigration law for the past eight years. She began as an Assistant District Counsel for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in San Francisco, California. From 1996 to 1999, she litigated deportation and removal cases, involving suspension of deportation, cancellation of removal, asylum/withholding, adjustment of status, waivers for crimes and misrepresentation, and voluntary departure.
Ms. Li now focuses mainly on employment-based and family-based immigration law, in particular, petitions for non-immigrant visas and immigrant visas, and applications for lawful permanent residence and naturalization.
Employment petitions include those for H-1B (professional worker), L-1A/L-1B (intra-company transferee), and TN (Canadian/Mexican NAFTA) visas, among others. She also handles labor certification applications for various occupations (for example, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering, information technology, architecture, geology, horticulture, and culinary arts), as well as immigrant visa petitions for outstanding researchers, individuals of extraordinary ability, and managers/executives.
Her practice in family-based immigration law includes applications for permanent residence (adjustment of status), waivers, fiancée petitions, removal of conditional status (Form I-751), consular processing abroad, and naturalization.
Vickie's previous experience as an attorney for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, combined with her current experience in the private sector, gives her a unique perspective on the practice of immigration law and the frustrations inherent in working with the Citizenship and Immigration Service (legacy INS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. consulates. This perspective, combined with dedication and commitment, is valuable to the firm's clients.
Education and Personal Background:
